  • BEC Headquarters have achieved the provisional Platinum rating under the BEAM Plus Assessment of existing buildings, after upgrading of green features to the building.  It was the first existing commercial building in Hong Kong to achieve this recognition.

Energy Saving

  • Replaced one conventional air-cooled chiller to oil-free variable speed air-cooled chiller
  • Replaced T8 fluorescent tubes with LED panels
  • Installed photo and occupancy sensors to reduce the energy use of the lighting system
  • Retro-commissioning the major building services system to ensure they are operating in the optimal conditions
  • In the future, solar films will be applied on the East and West facades to reduce solar heat gain

Water Saving

  • Installed a 6000-litre rainwater collection tank with a sterilization and water pump system
  • Installed low flow water taps and dual-flush systems in the washrooms

Green Office Initiatives

  • Organise ‘stair-day’ to reduce the electricity use by the lift
  • Stick label to remind staff members to turn off the lighting and computer monitor when leaving the office, and keep the temperature at 25oC
  • Switch off the office lighting during lunch hour
