Energy Saving Charter 2018
Since 2012, Energy Saving Charter was launched to encourage business and community organizations to save energy. The Energy Saving Charter 2017 attracted more than 3,300 signatories. Pledges under Energy Saving Charter 2018:-
Energy Saving Charter
(a) maintain average indoor air temperature between 24 – 26 ºC during the summer months of June to September in 2018;
(b) switch off appliances and systems when not in use from June 2018 to May 2019;
(c) procure energy efficient appliances (such as those with Grade 1 energy labels) and systems from June 2018 to May 2019; and
(d) engage staff/ students to adopt the above energy saving practices together.

Visit to Water Resources Education Centre
To provide visitors (in particular students) with knowledge about the importance of water conservation through exhibits, live demonstrations and interactive games.
Environmental Resource Centres
The Environmental Resource Centres are located in Fanling, Wan Chai and Mid-Levels . There is also a mobile centre that visits other districts. All four centres offer a variety of educational displays and activities, each with its own special attractions.
The Fanling Centre, opened in 2003, provides environmental information for the general public in the New Territories North, and is a focal point of environmental education programmes for local schools and community organisations. The Centre occupies 400 square metres and includes a colourful exhibition hall with exhibition panels, interactive games and models in nine thematic display zones. Also included are a lecture room and a library.
Carbon Pricing Workshops
Carbon pricing is one of the efficient ways to reduce carbon emissions. The right price signals can spur action on mitigation and efficiency, stimulate innovation and catalyse investment to manage climate risk and capitalise on emerging opportunities.
The Carbon Pricing Workshops will serve to inform participants on what carbon pricing is and what it means to businesses. Participants will explore the suitable carbon pricing policies to support Hong Kong’s decarbonization transition through this series of workshops.
Innovative and Green Building Conference
Focusing on artificial intelligence, expert rule-based applications, predictive maintenance and smart energy management in building operation, the conference will feature emerging technologies and case studies in smart and green building. The conference will allow participants to exchange with property owners, operators, building professionals and solution providers to explore how to make use of the latest technologies to elevate building performance.

Green Run 2019
The Green Run was first held in 2016 to raise public awareness about environmental conservation, protection and responsibility, as well as to promote the transformation of Hong Kong into a greener and more sustainable city. By organising and staging this meaningful charity sporting event, Green Council wishes to encourage the public to implement greener choices and living habits in their daily lives, while taking a serious approach to environmental responsibility by embracing the competitive spirit found in long-distance runners.
Earth Hour 2019
Earth Hour is one of the world’s largest environmental movement, and the theme for Earth Hour 2019 is “Change the Way We Live”. By symbolically switching off the lights at 8:30p.m on 30 March 2019, World Wide Fund For Nature wish to spread the message of preserving the earth’s biodiversity and safeguarding Hong Kong’s remaining ecologically important areas and species from development pressures.
Energy Innovation for Smart City Competition 2018-2019
Upper form secondary students team up to propose and implement innovative projects for promoting energy saving and energy efficiency to the community.

Green Elites Campus Accreditation Programme
With an aim to nurture primary students to develop green living behaviour at an early age, the Green Elites Campus Accreditation Programme was officially launched in 2015/16 school year, to encourage students and teachers to apply green tips in their daily lives. As part of the Programme, the Green Elites Portal is an online platform for all primary school students in Hong Kong to learn green habits in a fun way through interactive games and content.
Smart Energy Experience Centre
By partnering with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and using innovative technology developed by local start-up companies, the centre aims to introduce smart home and business solutions and promote smarter and greener lifestyles to customers. It features smart home devices suitable for small flats in Hong Kong and offer smart solutions to help business optimise their operations and services.
CLP Smart Energy@Mong Kok
CLP’s flagship store showcasing the latest online to offline (O2O) experience, smart technologies and products. At Smart Energy@Mong Kok, customers can play EE&C mobile games to earn Eco Points and redeem fabulous rewards only available in the flagship store. Selected products and gadgets are displayed with AR technologies to enhance customers’ shopping experience. To promote the benefit of smart home living, CLP dedicates a whole floor as Smart Home Control Centre to house a full range of smart home appliances that can be controlled with tablet and smart phone, and other high-tech products including smart mirror, under-the-floor-heating system and voice-control device.
Tai Po Eco Home Visit
The new CLP Eco Home in Tai Po brings smart yet green living ideas to the New Territories East. The Eco Home is a one-stop green lifestyle centre where you can try out innovative energy saving appliances. There are free workshops, tours, cooking demonstrations and trials, and plenty more for you to enjoy as you find out more about energy efficiency and conservation.
CLP Eco Building Fund Communication Workshop
The Fund will contribute towards improvement works for enhancing the energy efficiency of building services installations for communal use in the residential buildings and their nearby ancillary facilities such as clubhouse. Examples of the qualified building services installations are:
• Lighting
• Electrical installation (e.g. water pump)
• Air-conditioning
• Lift and escalator
Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance
The Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance (the “Alliance”) aims to provide a platform that fosters a green shopping environment and helps shopping mall operators and shop tenants adopt sustainable best practices. The Alliance has developed a “Green Shop Pledge”. Shop tenants are invited to take the Pledge to incorporate suitable green measures in their daily operations. Shopping mall operators are also invited to join the Alliance to drive more sustainable practices with tenants.

Friends of Green Building
"Friends of Green Building" is a platform for Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) to keep the public updated about the news and activities of its Public Education Committee (PEC), including the latest HKGBC green building education initiatives such as highlights of activities, campaigns and programmes, as well as any upcoming activities organised by the HKGBC, for instance, seminars, guided tours, contests, exhibitions, funfairs etc.
Low-carbon Office Operation Programme (LOOP)
Low-carbon Office Operation Programme was launched by World Wide Fund For Nature. The programme has been established to enable Hong Kong companies and organisations to become part of the solution to climate change. By participating in LOOP, companies or organisations are engaged with a group of like-minded forward-looking leaders to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions generated from office operation via the adoption of managerial and technological best practices, staff behavioural adaptation, and a labelling scheme. LOOP companies or organisations can access a tool-kit that allows the measurement and analysis of the carbon performance of an office, formulation of emissions reduction strategy, and reporting on their improved carbon performance.
POWER YOU Kindergarten Visitation Programme
The POWER YOU Kindergarten Education Kit, developed by CLP, is an electricity-themed education kit that aims to spark interest among kindergarten students in the world of electricity, giving them a basic knowledge about energy and teaching them good habits in energy efficiency. To help kindergartens make better use of the kit, CLP has launched a visitation programme. Our engineers and technicians schedule visits to kindergartens and introduce engineers and technicians as professions to pupils, share basic knowledge of the power journey, safe use of electricity and EE&C tips.
Smart Energy Experience Centre Visit
CLP has given its customer service centre in Yuen Long a major facelift to transform it into a Smart Energy Experience Centre. We have also partnered with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to introduce smart home devices suitable for small flats in Hong Kong at the centre, using innovative technology developed by start-up companies in the HKSTP to promote smarter, greener, low-carbon lifestyles.
