According to EPD record, the road transport is the second largest air pollution source in Hong Kong. It accounted for about 57% of the local respirable suspended particulates, 62% of nitrogen oxides and 48% of sulphur dioxide in the past few years. The exhaust emissions of motor vehicles are the main source of roadside air pollution. To help improve roadside air quality and reduce carbon emissions, the Government encourages the transport industry to replace the traditional vehicles with electric vehicles which have no tailpipe emission that will help improve roadside air quality and reduce greenhouse effect. This symposium will invite distinguish speakers to share information and experience in latest technology and environmental regulatory of commercial electric vehicle. Moreover, EMSD will also brief the progress of legislation on vehicle repair mechanic and workshop.
