Chief Secretary Carrie Lam today chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee on Climate Change.
Chief Executive CY Leung announced in his Policy Address this year the establishment of the inter-departmental committee to steer and co-ordinate the Government's climate work.
The committee members come from 10 policy bureaus and three departments to formulate long term climate strategies to meet a new carbon reduction target beyond 2020.
The Government will organise publicity events to promulgate the climate change message to the community, with special focus on young people.
A forum chaired by the Chief Secretary will be held this summer to collect stakeholders’ views on combating climate change.
