Hong Kong greenhouse gas inventory for 2013 released

    The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (June 22) released the 2013 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for Hong Kong.

    Hong Kong's total GHG emissions in 2013 amounted to 44.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. The level of per capita GHG emissions was around 6.2 tonnes, slightly higher than that in 2012. Electricity generation remained the major source of emissions, amounting to 30.3 million tonnes or 68.3 per cent of the total. Other major emission sources were the transport sector (16.9 per cent) and waste management (5.7 per cent).
